RECREATION

We had a full slate of fun events this summer. We hope to have even more next year. These gatherings really bring us all together and make Chapman Beach the community we all enjoy and love. Thank you all and see you next summer.

RULES AND BEACH PLACARDS

You  all received a laminated copy of our District rules which we hope you will keep in a prominent place so your guests and renters can read them as well. Also included are two orange beach placards that must be displayed when you visit the beach. Your group, big or small, only needs to display one placard.

We still have kid size t-shirts $10

We also have the 'CB'  car magnets      2 for $5.

All boats must be removed from the beach

Thank you to our volunteers

Damian Ranelli, Brian Gooley, Bill Demeris, Pete Potter, and Peter Lovely for all of their help in building and erecting our new kayak racks

Racks for 16 kayaks

These racks consolidated the storage of 16 kayaks freeing up over half of the main beach west of the right of way giving more space for our beachgoers. A sign has been placed on the beach where boats or kayaks that do not fit on the racks may be placed to the west but no boats may be placed to the east

Please rack your kayaks going forward

For this to benefit our beachgoers all kayaks must be racked to maintain the extra space on the beach. When placing your kayak in the rack it must be upside down so as not to fill with rainwater and damage the rack. Thank you for your cooperation.

REQUIRED 'IF FOUND' REGISTRATION OF BOATS ON THE BEACH

PLEASE GO TO THE 'CONTACT US' BUTTON TO REQUEST A NEW STICKER FOR YOUR WATERCRAFT. THIS NEW 'IF FOUND' STICKER IS FROM THE CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND EVIROMENTAL PROTECTION (DEEP) AND IS MEANT TO DISPLAY YOUR PERSONAL CONTACT INFORMATION.

SHOULD YOUR WATERCRAFT DRIFT OUT INTO THE SOUND AND BE FOUND UNMANNED THE COAST GUARD CAN CALL TO SEE THAT YOU ARE SAFE, OTHERWISE A COSTLY SEACH AND RESCUE WILL BE INITIATED.

WE WILL ASSIGN A DOCB REGISTRATION NUMBER TO WRITE ON THE STICKER ALONG WITH YOUR INFO TO SHOW YOUR WATERCRAFT IS REGISTERED WITH US. WITHOUT THIS REGISTRATION YOUR WATERCRAFT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE KEPT ON THE BEACH.

THE TOWN OF WESTBROOK IS PRESENTLY WORKING TOWARD MAKING THE USE OF THESE STICKERS A TOWN ORDINANCE.
